MATCHAM CAINE
Hey

Thanks for dropping by. If you're new here, the music on offer is best described as Americana. As an Aussie the term bristles but there you go... it has to be acknowledged that much of our musical heritage derives from the States. In my case the debt particularly applies to the rural blues music of the southern regions. It's not that I only write and play blues - far from it - but the spirit of the music keeps me going and, I hope, honest.

If you're a venue, you might wanna check out some tracks on this page, my bio and the contact page. I usually play solo with a range of fingerpicked guitars, although sometimes (quite often in fact) guest musos drop in.

If you're here to generally check things out and you like what you hear, you might wanna join my mailing list for updates of new songs I've uploaded. I do this on an ad hoc basis as I develop them in the studio. As I write this I'm about to upload eight songs from a demo LP 'Mark of Caine'. Feel free to download the tracks - no charge. Just tell your friends if you dig 'em and point 'em here. Sales of my debut album I Am Here are available on this page.

    • Great example of original folk/blues at its best. You can see that Matcham makes his living as a 'wordsmith' and he has musical ability to match. Slim has done a great job producing too. If you love folk or blues you won't be dissapointed by this wonderful album. 10 out of 10 from me.

    • Sitting here in bleak northern France, looking out over the endless cemeteries of fallen Australian soldiers from futile wars, it's great have this ray of sunshine from back in Oz.

If I listen carefully, I can hear Brel's voice on the wind. And I think if you listen hard enough in Byron (somewhere near the right address) you'll hear Matcham's grinder blues floating on the wind too.

Nice job! Bring on the black dog.

John and Cath (and non-sleeping Harry)

    • Sitting in our living room, on this incredible balmy spring night, sucking down some Corona's and listening to the album... just brilliant - we love it! Bravo Match. Jody & Mikexx
